Hamburg: Lucas Gräfe & Sillem, 1900-1913. First editions. 9 Volumes, 12x8," various paginations. 149 plates in total, showing 850+ x-rays. Text in German with additional illustrations and diagrams throughout. Cloth backed printed paper boards. Generally very good with 2 exceptions, contents clean with occasional edge chipping or soiling, not affecting the images. Boards worn, toned, and stained. Volume 9 good with portion of backstrip lacking, and university stamps to prelims. Volume 24 with moisture staining around edges which has caused some of the facing pages to adhere to the plates, with paper remnants affecting the very edge of a couple images.

9 supplementary volumes from the oldest German journal for medical radiology, Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Röntgenstrahlen, or Advances in the field of X-rays and imaging procedures.  The journal was founded in 1897 by Heinrich Albers-Schönberg, one of the first radiologists in Germany, and Georg Deycke, a researcher in tuberculosis.  These volumes were sent out to subscribers at irregular intervals to supplement the journal itself, and covered various topics including practice, diagnostics, therapy, and others.  Contributors included professors, radiologists, and prominent doctors of the time.  The journal is still published today as RöFo: Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet...
