First edition of this memoir of the 8th Texas Cavalry Regiment under Colonel Benjamin Franklin Terry of the Confederate States Army. The regiment was active for four years and fought in roughly 275 engagements. The author, Leonidas Banton Giles (1841-1922) was wounded in the Battle of Rowlett's Station, the same engagement in which Terry was killed.
